ORLANDO- For the ninth time in 12 seasons, the UCF women's golf team is headed to the postseason as the Knights will compete as the No. 4 seed at the Palm Beach Regional from May 8-10, the NCAA announced on Wednesday.
The Knights are one of 12 schools scheduled for the Palm Beach Regional, hosted by Florida Atlantic and the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. It will take place Monday, May 8 through Wednesday, May 10 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The Palm Beach site will serve as one of six regionals to determine the championship finals field.
A total of 72 teams and 36 individual participants have been selected for regional competition. Of the 396 players participating in the regionals, 156 will advance to the championship finals, with the top-five teams and top individual (not on an advancing team) advancing from each regional.
This will be UCF's 17th regional appearance and the ninth in the last 12 seasons. Since head coach Emily Marron took over the program ahead of the 2012-13 season, the Knights have either qualified as a team or sent an individual to every NCAA regional. Wednesday's selection marks the fourth straight time the Knights have made an NCAA regional as a team (excluding the COVID-shortened 2019-20 season).
After finishing second at the conference championship, the Knights secured their seventh top-five finish of the season.
Last season, Marron's squad made it to the NCAA regional championship in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where the Knights finished in 11th place. In 11 years as UCF's head coach, Marron has led the Knights to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, two conference championships, and has twice been named AAC Coach of the Year.
