Knights Finish Second at AAC Women's Golf Championship

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. - Three UCF women's golfers finished among the top 10, as the Knights wrapped up play as the runner-up in the 2023 American Athletic Conference Championship Wednesday afternoon at the Southern Hills Golf Club. The Knights fell just short of their third AAC title with a second-place finish after posting a combined 853 (-11) score.

The Knights saved their best round for last, but they were unable to overtake SMU, as the Mustangs were named the 2023 AAC Tournament champions with an 839 (-25) team score. UCF clinched the War on I-4 title after finishing ahead of South Florida (864, E), adding six points to the board to give the Knights their seventh consecutive War on I-4 victory.
 
UCF junior Jess Baker put together another strong round on Wednesday, as she finished in third place with a combined score of 210 (-6), highlighted by a 69 (-3) in the final round. The England native recorded a total of four birdies in the final round, two on the front nine and two on the back nine. With the third-place finish, she has now posted three top-five finishes this season. 
 
Right on the heels of Baker was graduate student Anna Nordfors, who finished two strokes behind to tie for fifth place with a combined score of 212 (-4). Senior Tunrada Piddon wrapped up the tournament with a 70 (-2) and a combined score of 213 (-3). Piddon ended in seventh place.
   
Freshman Pimpisa "Sandwich" Sisutham posted her best round on Wednesday with a 70 (-2) and tallied a 213 (-3) combined score to finish tied for 17th place. Sophomore Zoe Allaux rounded out the Knights' lineup with a round three score of 75 (+2) and a combined score of 231 to finish tied for 42nd place.

The Knights entered Wednesday's final round trailing SMU by six strokes, but the Mustangs kept their pace to capture the conference title and SMU's Michelle Zhang won the individual title with a 201 (-15) combined score.

The Knights will now await the NCAA Selection Show to learn where they will compete in the NCAA Regional round, which is slated for May 8-10. The selection show will air on Wednesday, April 26 at 1 p.m. ET on the Golf Channel.
