Yassine Dlimi Named the Final AAC Player of the Week

ORLANDO – For the first time in 2023, UCF has taken home its first American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor as Yassine Dlimi won the final award of the regular season, announced the league office Tuesday. Dlimi, who went undefeated in both singles and doubles this week, extended his unbeaten run to nine matches with his straight-set victories against UAB and Tulsa on court three.

Last Wednesday, Dlimi defeated Vojtech Podzemny, 7-6(7-3), 6-2 in the Knights 4-2 victory in Birmingham. On senior day, the freshman bested Ezequiel Santalla in yet another convincing performance, 6-2, 6-3. The Moroccan native hasn't lost in singles since the Knights mid-March meeting at SMU.

In doubles, Dlimi and his partner Toto Llanes, have found their stride as of late. Last week, the freshman tandem won both of their matches 6-2 and 6-4.
