ORLANDO – The No. 39 UCF women's tennis team will close out its 2023 spring season on Sunday, April 16 against SMU. The match, taking place at USTA National Campus, will feature joint Senior Day celebrations with the men's tennis team beginning at 11:45 a.m. and a first serve time of 12 p.m.

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
The Knights (9-9) are coming off a huge win over South Florida, building off the momentum created by the sweep over Bethune Cookman last week. In the first conference match of the season, the Knights took the first two doubles courts to clinch the doubles point. In singles, Marie Mattel, Nandini Sharma, and Anique Kattenberg clinched a win over their opponents in straight sets to secure a 4-1 match victory to kick off the two-match home stand.

KNIGHTS IN THE POLLS
Senior Mattel moved up seven spots in the ITA Singles Poll after her win over Bethune Cookman, putting her back at No. 32. Mattel remains the highest ranked singles player in AAC women's tennis. The duo of Nandini Sharma and Stefani Webb also climbed the rankings in the doubles poll, slotting in at No. 73.

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
SMU (12-8) bounced back from a loss at Baylor with a top-25 win over San Diego on Friday night. The Mustangs took the doubles point and three singles courts in straight sets to collect a sweep before traveling to Orlando for one final match. The squad is led by Hadley Doyle, who checks into the ITA singles rankings at No. 123. Doyle is 7-3 at the first singles position this season and earned AAC Player of the Week honors in early February.

The Mustangs lead the all-time series over the Knights 8-7, but the Knights have taken four of the last five contests, including a 4-3 win in Dallas last season.
