ORLANDO – The third-ranked UCF track and field team will hit the road for the first time this season as it travels up to Gainesville for the Pepsi Florida Relays, hosted by the University of Florida at the James G. Pressly Stadium. The Knights will be competing alongside a competitive field that includes the second-ranked team in the nation, USC, whom the Knights sit just behind in the first USTFCCCA Poll of the season.

Friday will get kicked off with the hammer throw at 11 am, followed by the first track event of the day at 11:40 am with the 4x800 relay. The first day will finish with the 5k at 10:05 pm. Reigning AAC Field Athlete of the Week, Adrienne Adams, will kick off day two in the discus at 9 am. The 100-meter hurdles prelims will begin at noon as three Knights feature including Rayniah Jones and Kaylor Harris. Distance will wrap up the meet in the 3k at 5:10 pm.

Portions of the meet will be streamed, though the exact times remain TBA.

It's been an incredible two weeks to open the season for the squad. With two meets at home, the Knights showed out as six athletes currently reside in the top 10 in the nation in their events. Moreover, five currently rank in the top five in the nation as the aforementioned Adams, Beyonce Defreitas, Latasha Smith, Asherah Collins, and Jasmine Scott-Kilgo are all among the best in the nation. The best start to an outdoor season in program history was followed with the highest ranking in program history as the Knights checked in at third in the first poll of the season.

Along with Adams, Scott-Kilgo set a new program record in the triple jump as she won the event at this past weekend's UCF Knights Invite with her 13.29m mark. The previous record was held for 14 years before the senior broke it with her career-best jump that is currently second in the nation.
