Knights Sweep Again, Smith and Adams Win Athletes of the Week

After dominating at the Knights Invite, the UCF track and field team has once again swept the weekly honors, as Latasha Smith took home the Track Athlete of the Week honors for the third time in her career, while Adrienne Adams too won her third Field Athlete of the Week award in her career. This is the second week in a row that UCF has swept the Athlete of the Week honors, as Beyoncé Defreitas and Jasmine Scott-Kilgo took home last week's awards.

Latasha Smith won the 400-meter dash, finishing with a time of 52.70. Smith also finished third in the 200-meter competition, logging a time of 23.26. With her outstanding performance this past weekend, Smith is now ranked second in the nation in the 400-meter, and 11th in the 200-meter dash.

Adrienne Adams broke her own school record in discus for the second week in a row. Two weeks ago, during the UCF Black and Gold Invite, Adams won the event and set a then school record with a 56.07m throw. With only herself to beat in the UCF record book, Adams recorded a 57.76m throw at the Knights Invite, once again winning the competition, and beating her previous program record. With her back-to-back historic performances, Adams is now ranked third in the nation in discus.

Smith and Adams will look to continue their success as they travel to Gainesville for the Florida Relays, which will take place this Friday and Saturday.
