Knights Sweep First AAC Weekly Awards of Outdoor Season

ORLANDO – The UCF track and field team has once again swept the first weekly honors of the season as Beyoncé Defreitas and Jasmine Scott-Kilgo have taken home the Track and Field Athletes of the Week award for their showing at the Black and Gold Invitational. Rayniah Jones and Asherah Collins accomplished the feat to begin the indoor season. The awards are the first for Scott-Kilgo and Defreitas in their collegiate careers.

Following a brilliant showing at the Indoor Championships, Scott-Kilgo opened up the outdoor season with two chart-topping performances. Her 13.20m (43' 3.75") mark in the triple jump is now second in both program history and the nation following the first meets of the season. Her second personal best of the weekend came in the long jump as her 6.38m (20' 11.25") mark is third in the nation along with the new fourth-best mark in program history.

The 200-meter AAC Indoor Champion, Beyoncé Defreitas, opened up the event in style in her first outdoor meet of the season. Her 23.33 time currently lands her eight in the nation. It was the best opening run of her career in the event as she finished third overall. Her weekend wasn't done as she also made the much-anticipated return to the 4x100 relay alongside Daija Lampkin, Janyah Jasper, and I'Asia Wilson as the squad ran the tenth-best time in the nation at 44.79.

Both athletes gave Knight nation a show at this past weekend's Black and Gold Invitational. Defreitas and Scott-Kilgo will be back at the Track and Field Complex for this weekend's Knights Invite.
