ORLANDO – The UCF track and field team, on the back of winning its third consecutive AAC championship indoor, opens the second portion of its season this weekend as the Knights begin outdoor action by hosting the Black and Gold Invitational at the UCF Track Complex.
The two-day meet begins on Friday morning with the field events. The women's discus will get started around 11 am followed by pole vault, long jump, javelin, and shot put. Running events will begin around 6 pm with the 400-meter hurdles.
Saturday's action starts at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer throw. The women's 4x100 relay opens action on the track at 12 p.m.
Spectators will be able to attend the Black and Gold Invitational but must remain in the stands and will not be allowed on the track level.
UCF makes the switch to outdoor action after winning its second consecutive American Athletic Conference indoor championship in Birmingham last month. The Knights now have the most AAC indoor titles with three as four Knights took home a gold medal. Rayniah Jones qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championship for the second year running and earned Second Team All-America honors in the 60-meter hurdles.
With this being the last season in the American, the Knights will look to repeat as outdoor champions and win an unprecedented four consecutive AAC titles.
