Nordfors Breaks Program Record in First Round of UCF Challenge

ORLANDO - Anna Nordfors turned in a stellar first round at the UCF Challenge on Sunday, as the Knights graduate student set the program record for the lowest 18-hole score with a 64 (-8) at Eagle Creek Golf Club. Nordfors' score is tied for first on the individual leaderboard following the opening round.

"I was super excited when I found out that I broke the school record," said Nordfors. "It's been a goal of mine for a while and it was a great day out on the course." 

Nordfors, a native of Gothenburg, Sweden, carded five birdies on the front nine and four on the back nine to finish eight under. Her nine birdies were tied for the most of any player in the first round.

As a team, the Knights had a strong showing on the first day of their home tournament, tying for third place with a 277 (-11).

Senior Tunrada Piddon turned in a great first round, recording a 69 (-3) with six birdies to end the day in a tie for 12th place. Junior Jess Baker shot a 71 (-1), while sophomore Zoe Allaux fired a 73 (+1) and freshman Pimpisa Sisutham shot a 74 (+2).

Playing as an individual, junior Camille Banzet also turned in a score of 74 (+2).
 
The Knights will tee off in the second round of the UCF Challenge Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. UCF is paired with Michigan State and College of Charleston. Live scoring can be found on golfstat.com here.
