Hendricks Earns Eighth AAC Rookie of the Week Honor

PHILADELPHIA – For the eighth time this season, freshman sensation Taylor Hendricks has been named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. Ithiel Horton was named to the weekly honor roll for his efforts over the team's last two games.

Hendricks' week started with the contest against South Florida on Feb. 22. He posted 18 points while earning a career-high in steals with three. He also netted a career-high seven free throws on a career-high eight opportunities from the charity stripe.

Sunday's contest at Tulsa saw Hendricks record a career-high with 25 points, his fifth 20-point or higher performance this season. He was 10-for-16 from the field and sunk three triples in the process. He added two blocks and a steal along with eight rebounds in the team's 19-point win. Hendricks had 14 points at halftime which is as many points as the entire Tulsa team had at the break.

Currently, Hendricks is one of three players in the nation to have 50 or more three pointers, 45 or more blocks and 30 or more dunks. He is the only one of those three to shoot over 40% from the three-point line.

Hendricks has already set the conference record for most Rookie of the Week honors in a single season. He broke the record with his seventh nod last week and continues to build on the historic season with his eighth selection.

Horton earns his second trip to the league's weekly honor roll after two stellar games. He posted 28 points against South Florida, his fifth game with 20 or more points this season. He achieved a career high in steals with four.

His solid week continued at Tulsa, where he topped his brand-new career high in steals, snagging half a dozen against the Golden Hurricane. He finished the night with 12 points. Horton, who reached 1,000 career points on January 25 already has over 100 more a month later and now sits at 1,111. He's posted 107 points over the last seven games, an average of 15.3 per contest.
