In his first start of the season, Ruddy Gomez threw 5.2 innings, complete with seven strikeouts, giving him the win on opening night. Cameron Leiter pitched his first four collegiate innings on Saturday against Siena, posting seven strikeouts and only one hit in his debut. In a weekend full of seven strikeout starters, Dom Stagliano also notched seven strikeouts in five shutout innings on the way to the 11-1 seven-inning game Sunday. This performance earned him AAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the first time in his career.
 
Ryan Ammons made his first start of his career on opening night, posting nine strikeouts in his five innings. Sophomore Austin Gordon also saw his first start of his collegiate career during opening weekend, striking out two batters and giving up one earned run. Jay Dill will make his second start of his career Sunday, after notching three strikeouts and yielding four hits.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Clemson is 4-0 on the season, sweeping its home opener series against Binghamton 11-3, 3-2, and 19-1. The series was highlighted by two seven-run innings and a combined 38 hits. On Tuesday, the Tigers won their first midweek of the season, taking down Charlotte 9-5. After being tied 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh, the Tigers rallied with a four-run inning to take control of the game. The pitchers struck out a combined 31 batters with a 2.50 ERA over the four games played so far.
 
SERIES HISTORY
UCF is 3-5 all-time against the Tigers, with Clemson taking all three games in the last series played back in 2008. The Knights are 2-1 when they play Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
 
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
After sweeping Siena during opening weekend, UCF dropped a tough 13-3 game to FAU in its first midweek. Jacob Marlowe made his first career start, giving up only two earned runs in his four innings. Najer Victor pitched to the tune of three strike outs and one earned run in the inning he pitched.
 
Ben McCabe was named to the AAC Honor Roll after a phenomenal opening weekend where he hit three home runs on opening night and hit .500 through the weekend. He continued to slug on Tuesday, scoring another home run.
