STARTING PITCHERS
LHP Evan Waterbor (FAU) vs. LHP Jacob Marlowe (UCF)
Marlowe is set to make his first career start this Tuesday against FAU. He made his first appearance of the season as the first reliever out of the pen on opening night against Siena, throwing 1.1 innings without surrendering a hit. In his 2022 freshman season, he posted a 3.67 ERA over 15 appearances in relief, totaling 27 innings with 22 strikeouts.
Waterbor is making his second appearance of this season and the first start of his career. In three seasons of action at FAU, Waterbor has a 6.46 ERA in 23 relief appearances. He's notched 30 strikeouts and giving up 28 earned runs over 39 innings.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
FAU swept their opening series against Monmouth. They had a high-scoring series, that saw the Owls score 37 runs across three games. They had six players each hit one home run on the weekend.
The Owls had 13 pitchers see action in their opening weekend, pitching to the tune of a 2.00 ERA while striking out 24 batters.
SERIES HISTORY
UCF is 47-39 all-time against the Owls, winning three of the last five matchups. Both teams won at their home stadium last season.
UCF OPENING WEEKEND
UCF opened its season with a sweep against Siena. Outscoring Siena 35-6, the Knights had a well-rounded performance with contributions throughout the lineup.
Dom Stagliano, the Sunday starter, earned American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors for his efforts in his first game as a Knight. The Freshman All-American and Stetson transfer threw 5.0 scoreless innings and struck out seven batters.
Ben McCabe was named to the AAC Honor Roll after returning to his role behind the plate. He slugged three home runs on opening night, and through the three games, hit .500, scoring five runs and notching a double.
Freshmen Brady Shannon and Drew Faurot made a significant impact in their first collegiate games. Shannon leads the team with a .556 batting average after a 5-9, two-home run weekend, in which he hit a walk off bomb to secure the series. Faurot tallied his first career home run on opening night, starting all three games and posting a .417 average on the weekend.

The Knights take a road trip to South Carolina to take on Clemson this weekend, Feb. 24-26, and continues the road trip to Daytona for their first midweek meeting of the season with Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday, Feb. 28. The Knights will return to John Euliano Park the following weekend to host Georgia Southern.
