Piddon in First, Knights in Second Place After Round One

MELBOURNE, Fla. – In a stacked field that features some of the nation's top women's golf programs, UCF senior Tunrada Piddon sits in first place on the player leaderboard following Sunday's first round with a 65 (-7) and the Knights are in second place with a 278 (-10) as a team at the Moon Golf Invitational held at Suntree Golf Club.

Tabbed No. 21 in the latest GolfStat Rankings, UCF sits just two strokes shy of No. 9 LSU (276, -12) for the team lead. The Knights are currently ahead of three teams ranked higher than the Black and Gold in the rankings, including eight strokes ahead of seventh-ranked Florida State (286, -2).

Four of the Knights' golfers are among the top 40 players after round one with Piddon leading a trio of players tied for second by a stroke, including Florida's Annabell Fuller, Florida State's Lottie Woad and LSU's Carla Tejedo Mulet (66, -6).

Piddon recorded eight birdies in the opening round to lead all players in the field. Starting play on hole No. 10, Piddon was two under on the back nine and five under on the front nine. She was dialed in on the front nine, recording three consecutive birdies on holes two through four.

Pimpisa "Sandwich" Sisutham shot a 70 (-2) to tie for 19th, dropping a birdie putt on hole No. 14 and No. 1.

After winning the UCF Challenge and setting the program record in her last outing, graduate student Anna Nordfors fired a 71 (-1) with five birdies. Junior Jess Baker was one stroke behind her with an even par 72 to tie for 40th.

Sophomore Zoe Allaux turned in a two-over-par 74, highlighted by a birdie on hole No. 6.

The Knights will be back at it for round two Monday morning at 9:40 a.m., teeing off on hole one with LSU, Clemson and Northwestern.
