ORLANDO – The UCF men's basketball team is set to launch back into action at home as it hosts Tulsa on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Knights will be rocking "'Nauts" jerseys for tomorrow's "Space Game". A block party prior the game will be held on East Plaza Drive from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
The Knights return home after earning their first win in Wichita in program history. The Black and Gold came from 11 points down early in the second half to pull out a 72-67 victory. Taylor Hendricks tied a career high with 23 points in the contest. Darius Johnson snagged seven steals while posting 12 points. No Knight has recorded seven or more steals in just under 10 years. The last player to accomplish the feat was Isaiah Sykes who recorded nine steals against Georgia Southwestern on Feb. 26, 2013.
The Knights have been cashing in on three-point attempts all season, shooting 36.4% from beyond the arc. The mark is the first in the conference and 60th in the nation. The Black and Gold average 8.7 threes a game, a mark that's 50th in the country. UCF has also been on point from the free throw line, ranking 18th in the country at 76.4%.
Tulsa enters the contest with a mark of 5-18 on the year and a 1-11 record in conference play. The Golden Hurricane are riding a five-game losing streak and are 0-9 on the road this season. Their last victory came back on Jan. 21, an 81-79 overtime victory at home against Tulane. Sam Griffin is the leading scorer for the Golden Hurricane, averaging 15.4 points a contest. Bryant Selebangue nearly a double-double per game, posting 12.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
