Knights Cap Off Great Weekend

NASHVILLE - The UCF track and field team had another strong outing, setting multiple PR's and top 10 finishes during day two of the Vanderbilt invite.

"We are in our second week of competition and things are heating up", head coach Dana Boone said. "We have had some great performances over the past two days.  The 200 and 400 groups made some positive moves forward. At Vanderbilt, the distance group and the jumps and multis really had some great performances over the past two days. I'm excited for the rest of the season. Now we will get back to training and some will race next week as we prepare for the rest of the season."

The first event of the afternoon saw the Knights break three personal records along with all participants finishing in the top ten of the mile including Mariana Rodriguez who finished two seconds above her previous PR. Rodriguez finished eighth overall out of the 56 runners who finished the event

Along with Rodriguez, Lillian Holtery and Isabella Richardson both bested their PR's, finishing seventh and ninth respectively. Following another hot start, the Knights had both of their competitors finish in the top ten with Asherah Collins placing second in the triple jump. The only other member from the Knights who participated in the event was Jasmine Scott-Tilgo, who placed seventh out of 28 total competitors.

During the ensuing event, freshman Kendall Hughes finished 13th in the 800m, falling only one second shy of her PR. Throughout the 3000-meter, Rachel Wheatley bested her PR by over a second to conclude the night for the Knights.
