BOCA RATON, Fla. – Three members of the UCF women's tennis team traveled to Boca Raton this past week to take part in the ITF W25 tournament. Sophia Biolay, Jantje Tilbuerger and Noel Saidenova competed in the singles qualifying draw of the tournament, securing two wins along the way.
Biolay faced off against Haley Giavara, a senior and All-American at Cal, in the first round of the qualifying draw. After dropping the first set 3-6, Biolay came back strong in the second, winning it 7-6 in tiebreakers, forcing the match to advance to the super tiebreaker. This was where Biolay's tournament came to an end, as Giavara narrowly took the super tiebreaker set 10-7.
Freshman Tilbuerger continued her success in professional tournaments, securing a commanding 6-0, 6-1 victory over Laura Boehner in the first round of the qualifying draw. She was then out-dueled by Maya Joint, a blue-chip recruit from Michigan, by a score of 5-7, 2-6.
Saidenova secured a decisive win over wild card Isabella Aguiar in her opening match, taking her down 6-1, 6-3. She then faced Giavara in the second round of the qualifying draw, dropping 1-6, 4-6 to bring her tournament to a close.
