KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The UCF women's basketball team fell 99-54 to Tennessee on Wednesday night in the Thompson-Boling Arena.
UCF (6-3) scored the first basket of the contest from Mya Burns. Both teams exchanged points back and forth with a total of seven ties and six lead changes. Tennessee (7-5) knotted it up at 18-18 with 45 seconds left in the opening frame. Rachel Ranke answered with a three to take the lead, 21-18. The Lady Vols answered back with a two-pointer to cut the Knights lead to one, 21-20, at the end of the first quarter.
Tennessee jumped onto the lead in the second with a three. UCF was unable to combat the Lady Vols as they went on a 5-0 run. Tennessee took a 41-38 advantage into the locker rooms.
The Lady Vols opened the second half with a jump shot followed by three threes to extend its lead to 12 points, 52-40.
The Black and Gold led off the fourth with a layup from Bryana Hardy. Tennessee continued with its scoring ways to ensure the 99-54 win.
Burns led the Knights with 12 points, adding in six rebounds, and one steal. Laila Jewett recorded 10 points on the night and five rebounds.
UCF returns to Addition Financial Arena on Dec. 20 and 21 for the Christmas Classic with matchups against Idaho State and Elon.
