ORLANDO - The UCF women's basketball team will travel to Tennessee to face off against the Lady Volunteers on Wednesday in the Thompson-Boling arena. The game will start at 6:30 p.m. and will stream on the SEC Network+.
The Knights (6-2) are looking to earn their second road win of the season and snap a two-game losing streak. UCF came up short against Seton Hall on Sunday, dropping the matchup 63-56. With the loss, UCF fell to 5-1 at home. During the game, senior forward Destiny Thomas made history, as she recorded a career-high 24 rebounds, tying the single game program record.
Thomas has done it all for the Knights this year. Through eight games, she is averaging a double-double with 13.1 points and 12.4 rebounds per game, which leads the team in both categories. She is also tied for third on the team with nine total assists.
Sophomore guard Laila Jewett is second on the team in points per game with 10.5. Jewett currently leads the Knights with 14 three-point shots made. Freshman guard Sierra Godbolt leads the team with 24 assists on the year. Godbolt is also tied for first in steals with 16.
Tennessee (6-5) enters the matchup on a two-game winning streak. The Lady Vols beat Wright State 96-57 on Sunday, improving their home record to 5-2. Senior forward Rickea Jackson leads Tennessee in points and rebounds per game with 17.6 and 6.3, respectively. Jordan Horston, a senior guard, is second in points (15.8) and rebounds (6.0) per game.
This will be the second overall matchup between the Knights and Lady Volunteers. In last year's matchup, Tennessee beat UCF 49-41 in Orlando.
