UCF Hosts Sam Houston Thursday Night

ORLANDO – The UCF women's basketball team will play their first post-Thanksgiving Classic game this week. The Knights will host the Sam Houston Bearkats at Addition Financial Arena on Thursday, Dec. 1, with tip off scheduled for 6 p.m. This game will also be available to stream on ESPN+.
 
The UCF women's basketball team remains undefeated this season and are looking to keep their winning streak intact. The Black and Gold's last game against Southeast Missouri State proves they have what it takes to continue winning. With a final score of 67-41, Taylor Gibson led the game by earning 17 points and 10 rebounds, a season-high for the sophomore forward.
 
This Thursday's game will consist of a teddy bear toss and fans who bring a teddy bear will get an ugly Christmas t-shirt. The Teddy Bears will be donated to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer hospital for children.

This will also be the first time the Knights are facing off against the Bearkats since 1984. The game on December 8, 1984, ended with a win for the Black and Gold with a final score of 73-58.
 
The UCF women's basketball team currently has the number one ranked winning percentage in the nation. They also hold number one positions in the AAC conference for field goal percentage, defense, rebounds per game, and scoring margin. The Knights are also home to Destiny Thomas, the senior forward who is currently ranked number four in the nation for rebounds (offensive) per game.
 
 
Sam Houston 
The Sam Houston women's basketball team has played five games this season. With a current record of 2-3, the Bearkats have lost to Auburn, Texas St., and Tulane, and won against Jarvis Christian and TCU. Coming from a 60-54 win against the Horned Frogs, the Bearkats are looking to secure a second consecutive win against the Knights.
 
Sam Houston women's basketball is currently ranked second in the nation for rebounds (offensive) per game and are home to graduate student and guard Chyna Allen, who has the number one ranked free throw percentage in the WAC conference.
