Taylor Hendricks Earns Back-to-Back AAC Rookie of the Week Honors

ORLANDO – UCF freshman forward Taylor Hendricks has wasted no time making an impact on his new team during the first three weeks of the new season, and his accomplishments are not going unrecognized.

Hendricks was bestowed with American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors for the second consecutive week Monday afternoon after leading the Knights to a convincing 20-point win over Evansville Wednesday night. The team later dropped a low-scoring defensive struggle by a 66-64 final score against (RV) Miami Sunday evening.

The freshman logged a combined 68 minutes of action between the two contests, scoring 16 points with eight rebounds, four blocks and two steals in the win over Evansville. The contest marked his fifth in his first six games, as well as his third straight, with double-digit points.

Hendricks punctuated his week with eight points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal in the Knights' 2-point loss to the Hurricanes.

The forward's 14.7 points per game through UCF's first seven games rank tied for 13th-best in The American, and he also ranks among conference leaders in blocked shots (12, 2nd), total rebounds (51, 3rd), rebounds per game (7.3, T-5th), minutes per game (32.7, T-7th) and 3-point field goals (12, T-8th).

The Fort Lauderdale native has now been recognized three times by The American after the freshman earned a spot on the weekly honor roll for his 23-point season debut against UNC Asheville and his 15-point, 12-rebound double-double against Florida State earlier this season.

Hendricks and the Knights will return to action Sunday, Dec. 4 against Samford, with tipoff from Addition Financial Arena scheduled for 2 p.m.
