ORLANDO-- The UCF volleyball team gained another signee on Tuesday as UCF head coach Todd Dagenais announced the signing of Annika Sokol.
Annika Sokol
5-10 | Setter | Roxborough Park, Colo.
Heritage High School
Sokol is a 5-foot-10 setter from Heritage High School. The Colorado native is a highly decorated athlete receiving multiple awards such as three-time first team all-conference, Prep Volleyball's Frosh 59 list, team captain, CHSAA all-state honorable mention, and academic all-state. Throughout her time at Heritage, she tallied up 714 kills, 449 assists, and 104 blocks.
Todd's thoughts about Annika:
Last year was a challenging year for us in the setter position. We brought back Amber and had one of our backups get injured to the point where she was unable to play. So, we began tracking Annika closely as she is a setter in the same club that Claudia came from. She is a solid all-around volleyball player. She has more skills than just setting. Along with an elite competitive mentality. She knew it was important for us to add depth to that position. We look forward to having that competitiveness in the gym and her academics in the classroom as well as someone who adds to culture in and out of the locker room.
"Looking at these three Coloradans, it's the first time we've had a recruiting class in one state," said Coach Dagenais.
