ORLANDO—The UCF women's basketball team is back in action on Tuesday at Campbell University inside the Gore Arena. The teams tip at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.
UCF stifled Winthrop in its 72-32 season opener on Nov. 7 in Addition Financial Arena. The Black and Gold defense came ready to play, forcing the Eagles into 23 turnovers. UCF scored 30 points off turnovers and 21 on the fast break.
The Knights poured in 20 points in the fourth quarter while holding Winthrop to just 14 points in the third and fourth frames combined.
UCF had four players score double digits last Monday. Bryana Hardy led the way with 14 points in her collegiate debut, while grabbing seven rebounds and tallying two assists. Destiny Thomas and Tiani Abrams each finished the night with 12 points. Thomas recorded a double-double, making it the fourth throughout her career. Abrams rounded out her collegiate debut with five rebounds, three assists and one steal. Ashton Verhulst added 11 points.
Six of the nine student-athletes that played in the season opener made their UCF debuts. The six newcomers were split in half between true freshmen and transfers.
This will be the Knights first meeting with Campbell. The Camels are 2-0 with wins against NC Wesleyan (83-40) and NC Central (71-55).
