ORLANDO - Members of the UCF women's tennis team will travel to Jacksonville this weekend to take part in the UNF Fall Invitational. The tournament, taking place from Friday, Nov. 11 until Sunday, Nov. 13 at the UNF Tennis Complex, will be the last collegiate tournament of the fall season for the Knights.
The tournament will take on a compass draw format for both singles and doubles. The Knights will face off against seven collegiate teams, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, North Carolina, South Florida, Maryland, and North Florida.
Sophia Biolay, Jaleesa Leslie, Marie Mattel, and Nandini Sharma will represent the Black and Gold at the tournament. Biolay and Mattel, and Sharma and Leslie will be the pairings for the doubles matches, with all members also participating in the singles draw as well.
Mattel, who is the nation's 90th ranked singles player, has had a phenomenal fall season, making it to the Sweet 16 round at ITA Regionals in October and winning both qualifying matches at the ITF W15 in Champaign, Ill. to advance to the main draw.
Biolay and Mattel will be paired up for the first time this fall season. Biolay was ranked in the ITA's preseason doubles rankings with teammate Sharma, coming it at No. 56 in the nation, after notching the most recorded victories of any duo on the team.
The Knights will have one more professional tournament before the fall season comes to a close. The ITF W15 will take place in Waco, Texas, beginning Monday, Nov. 14 and concluding Sunday, Nov. 20.
