Knights Wrap Up Season at NCAA Regionals

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.— The UCF cross country team capped off its season at the NCAA regionals on Friday morning at John Hunt Park in Huntsville. The Knights placed 17th out of 32 teams, with six runners breaking their 6K personal best.

"I'm very proud of how this team bounced back from a disappointing conference race," coach Bryan Jackson said. "We are leaving Huntsville with all 7 women setting a new 6k PB! I am really looking forward to watching how this young team develops over the next 12 months. They have the opportunity to become the best cross country team UCF has ever had."

Isabella Richardson crossed the finish line first for the Knights with a time of 21:25.6 passing her 6K personal best of 21:38.7. Richardson finished in 70th-place in her first NCAA regional.

Penelope Sosa finished 78th with a time of 21:33.4 breaking her personal best of 21:54.1. Lillian Holtery finished just behind Sosa at 79th with a time of 21:34.3 smashing her personal best of 22:02.9.

Mariana Rodriguez ended the race with a 133th-place finish and a time of 22:26.0 by shaving 20 seconds off her personal best of 22:46.7. Andrea Ballestero placed 136th with a time of 22:26.2 beating her personal best of 22:30.2.

Mackenzie Czurak finished at 146th-place being one of the six Knights to break their personal best with a time of 22:40.7. Riley Jasczak rounded out the field with a time of 22:44.5 landed her at 151 overall.

This will wrap up the Knights cross country season as they will now look to track and field season.  Indoor season starts on January 13 at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
