Women's Basketball Adds Two on National Signing Day

ORLANDO— Head coach Sytia Messer announced the 2022 UCF women's basketball signing class on Wednesday, inking two to National Letters of Intent.
 
Khyala Ngodu and Achol Akot will be joining the UCF women's basketball team next season.

"Both of these players will be great additions to our program as they play with great energy, toughness, and detail, which is the foundation of our program," Coach Messer said. "We are super excited for these young ladies to join our UCF family. Our goal is to improve every year to put ourselves in a position to compete for a championship. We are one step closer with these two additions to our team."

 
Khyala Ngodu
6-3 | Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Dillard High School
Ngodu raises the height of the roster, standing at 6-foot-3. A native from Florida averaged a double-double with 13.6 points per game. Along with an identical stat line of 1.8 steals and blocks per game. Throughout her years at Dillard, she has accumulated a total of 575 rebounds and 675 points. Ngodu has received multiple awards which includes2021 Boo Williams Holiday tournament MVP, ranked No. 7 player in the state of Florida and led Nike EYBL in blocks and rebounds.

"Khyala was one of the first players I offered upon being hired at UCF. She is 6'3 with a soft touch around the rim. She is an excellent rebounder, has great timing with blocks, and finishes well around the basket. Welcome to the UCF family, Khyala."

Ngodu's final two were between Clemson and UCF.
 
Achol Akot
6-1 | Ottawa, Canada
Capital Courts Academy
Akot stands at 6-foot-1 from Ottawa, Canada. Akot was a part of the Capital Courts Academy team, who won the Provincial Crown Championships equivalent to the State Championship in the USA. The Ottawa native received multiple awards this past season including U18 Ontario Provincial Team Selection, U18 Ontario Provincial Team Silver Medalist and Under Armour Become One AAU team. In the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association playoffs, she averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds.

"Achol is a 6'1 athletic player that can score inside and out. She has a skill set that will allow her to play multiple positions. Achol is a high energy slasher, defender, and an excellent rebounder. Welcome to the UCF family, Achol."

Achol's final four schools were UNC Chapel Hill, Florida State, West Virginia, and UCF.
