Hansen, Melville Sweep Player of the Week Honors

ORLANDO— After a strong weekend to continue the seven-game win streak with another undefeated weekend over Tulsa and Wichita State. The Knights swept the weekly honors as McKenna Melville was named Offensive Player of the Week and Abby Hansen was named Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

"There were many times on the road this weekend when the machine wasn't working as well as we had wanted it to," said UCF Head Coach Todd Dagenais. "Offensively, McKenna stepped up and made some tremendously difficult, high level professional attacks. In addition, the value that she brings to the team in her defense, her passing, and her volleyball IQ continues to be unrivaled by anybody I've ever coached."

Melville notched a total of 47 kills in both matches. The Eagan, Minnesota native, recorded 16 digs, 4 blocks, and added an ace over the weekend for a total of 50 points.

"It's great to see Abby win her first player of the week award. She really took advantage of some situations where her serving was able to get a team out of system and the opponents offense became very predictable. She's been working very hard on adding to the finer technical points of her blocking. This weekend it showed what she's capable of doing week in and week out. There are not many blockers in the country who can sustain 1.31 blocks per set. She will be recognized as one of the elite dual threat middles for her offensive percentage at her defensive prowess on the block."

Hansen was dominate at the net as she totaled 16 blocks, including a solo. She also recorded 13 kills while hitting .360 for a total of 21.5 points.

The Knights will host SMU on Friday, Nov. 4 and Memphis on Sunday, Nov. 6.
