Men's Soccer Falls to No. 14 Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – The UCF men's soccer team fell in a tight contest to No. 14 Tulsa by a score of 1-0 on Friday night.

The first half hour of the contest saw no shot attempts by either side. The first shot came from Tulsa in the 31st minute and finished the first half with a 5-1 edge in shot attempts.

The second half started with a dicey red card call as Gino Vivi was crashing the 18-yard box and made contact with the goalkeeper. After a video review, the referee issued the red card.

Tulsa struck for the only score of the game in the 75th off a corner. Sergio Baena served it in for Wes Bottenburg who put the Golden Hurricane in front 1-0.

Another red card was shown to Andres Hernandez Betancur in the 80th minute as he was the last man back to stop a breakaway. After review, it was determined that Hernandez tripped the Golden Hurricane player, putting UCF down two men for the remainder of the match.

The final horn blew and the match went down as the sixth loss of the season for UCF, the fifth of which has been by a single goal. The Knights are now 3-5 in conference and on the outside looking in to the six-team conference playoff picture, behind FAU by two points for the final seed.
