ORLANDO – After a three-point outing, Gino Vivi of the UCF men's soccer team has been named as the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Additionally, Anderson Rosa earned a spot on the conference's weekly honor roll.
Vivi tallied the opening goal against No. 13 Charlotte, a beauty of a goal scored in the 12th minute to give UCF the early edge. The Knights are 4-0-0 when scoring within the first 15 minutes this season, a trend that has been consistent each year. Vivi later tallied an assist, starting a goal that landed on SportsCenter Top 10. He lobbed a ball across the pitch, switching the field of play where Lucas Mauro headed a ball back in play for Lucca Dourado, who netted the chance on a volley. Vivi is up to nine points this season, scoring two goals and five assists.
Rosa landed on the conference's weekly honor roll for his performance. He played in all 90 minutes in the victory over Charlotte, a team that led the country in scoring offense entering the weekend. The Knights held the 49ers to a single goal, compared to Charlotte's 3.36 goals per game average.
