UCF Men’s Golf in Third Place After First Round at Isleworth Collegiate

WINDERMERE, Fla. – The UCF men's golf team turned in a strong first round at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational on Sunday, firing a score of 288 (E) to occupy third place following the opening round at Isleworth Country Club. The Knights tallied 19 birdies, tied for the third most by a team in the first round, and also recorded an eagle to headline the first day on the course.

In a stacked field of ranked teams, UCF's first-round score is currently ahead of No. 28 LSU (+1), No. 24 Arizona (+4), No. 42 Purdue (+4) and No. 9 Illinois (+6).

Luis Carrera led the Knights with a score of three-under-par to tie for eighth on the individual leaderboard after the first day of action at Isleworth. The fifth year recorded one of just three eagles on the day, as his approach shot on hole No. 3 went in for the eagle. He was -4 on the front nine and +1 on the back nine. Carrera finished the day with a score of 69, three-under-par.

Johnny Travale looked awesome in the first round at Isleworth, a course that he has had previous success as he won the 2019 Isleworth Collegiate Individual title. He started the day with three birdies on his first three holes and finished two under on the front nine before turning in a score of even par on the back nine to finish the day tied for 10th at two under (70).

Egor Eroshenko was three over on the day with four birdies to card a score of 75 with a 39 on the front nine and even par on the back nine. He was exceptionally good on par 5s Sunday, as he was three under with an average of 4.25 on each par 5, the second best among individuals.

Markus Braadlie led the Knights with five birdies on the day, including two on the front nine and three on the back nine. He fired a 38 through the first nine holes and was even after making the turn to end the day with a score of 74 (+2).

Chase Haygood made his first appearance in the UCF lineup this season and carded a five-over-par 77 after he was three over on the front nine and two over on the back nine. He birdied hole No. 14, which only had eight total birdies on the day, and hole No. 17.

Clement Charmasson is competing in the event as an individual and charted a score of 81 (+9). He recorded two birdies and nine pars with a 41 on the back nine and a 40 on the front nine.

UCF will return to action on Tuesday morning for round two of the Isleworth Collegiate. The Knights tee off starting at 9:40 a.m.
