Women's Soccer Set to Host ECU for First Ever Space Game

ORLANDO - The UCF women's soccer team is gearing up to take on ECU this Thursday for its first space game. The game will take place at 6 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex and will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Black and Gold hit the road last Sunday afternoon, securing a 3-2 win against Tulsa. They remain the lone undefeated team in conference play. The Knights are atop the conference with 13 points, with South Florida just one point behind with 12.

Kristen Scott and Dayana Martin dominated the game against the Golden Hurricane, with Scott scoring two of the three goals, both assisted by Martin. Martin scored the third goal and it was assisted by Scott.

The Knights secured a 2-0 win in the last meeting against East Carolina in Greenville, North Carolina, on Oct. 21, 2021. Out of the 19 all-time matches, UCF has won 13. ECU is currently 1-2-1 in conference play and 7-6-7 overall.

This will be the first space game in women's soccer program history and the team will wear special space kits. The kits recognize the University of Central Florida's roots, as the school was originally founded as Florida Technological University in 1963. The school was founded to provide personnel to support the growing space program at the Kennedy Space Center. With the program expanding beyond technology and engineering, the school was renamed the University of Central Florida in 1978.
