Volleyball Hosts USF for War on I-4

ORLANDO— The UCF Volleyball team will be back in The Venue on Wednesday for the War On I-4 against South Florida. The Knights will travel to Cincinnati for a matchup on Friday, October 21.

Wednesday's match starts at 7 p.m. and Friday's match begins at 6 p.m.

THE KNIGHTS
UCF will head into the matches with a 15-1 overall record followed by 7-1 in the American Athletic Conference. With a dominating performance last weekend at home with two clean sweeps over Temple and East Carolina.

McKenna Melville continues to lead the offense with 309 kills this season. She is also ranked No. 1 nationally in kills per set and in points per set. The Eagan, Minnesota native reached 1,500 digs against East Carolina on Sunday. Melville was honored as the AAC Offensive Player of the Week.

Abby Hansen is another important piece of the offense with 127 kills and a total of 68 blocks. The Graduate Student was tabbed on the AAC honor roll this past week.

THE BULLS
USF will look to get back on track after a loss on Sunday from Temple. The Bulls took East Carolina and Temple to five sets this past weekend.

The War on I-4 has been all Knights since the two programs joined the American Athletic Conference back in 2013. A victory would push their streak over South Florida to 19-straight wins.

UCF has not lost to USF since 2012, or 3,705 days ago.

The last time UCF lost to South Florida,
- Two Knights were eight years old
- Obama was still in his first term
- The Apple Watch hadn't been invented yet
- Instagram Stories weren't a thing
- Call Me Maybe and Gangnam Style topped the charts
- The first Avengers movie just came out
- Disney had not purchased Star Wars yet
- The Knights were a part of Conference USA
- The iPhone 5 was state-of-the-art

THOUGHTS WITH TODD

USF happens to be our only midweek matches and that is special by itself. Along with the fact that it's been a long-standing rivalry, which means a lot to fans and alumni. They have a couple of players who are absolute elites in the conference. On any given night it can be a challenging match. It's an individual match itself where the records don't matter or who is on the hot streak. Simply just a huge rivalry game.
