UCF Close Out the Regular Season With a Strong Showing at the Arturo Barrios Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The UCF cross country team competed in its first 6k race of the season in the Arturo Barrios Invitational at Texas A&M Saturday morning, placing 13th in a 38-team field.

Out of the 10 Knights who raced at the Watts Cross Country Course in College Station, Texas, four set personal bests. Lillian Holtery (22:02.9), Mariana Rodriquez (22:46.7), Mackenzie Czurak (23:01.2) and Camryn Williams (24:23.0) all turned in the best times of their careers in the regular season finale.

The other six Knights were all running their first 6k and Isabella Richardson placed 41 out of 326 individuals and led the squad with a final time of 21:38.7.

Holtery had a great showing, finishing 64th overall, her second-best placing this season following a 12th and 68th finish at the UCF Invite and North Alabama Showcase, respectively.

The freshmen showed out, as Andrea Ballestero posted an excellent time of 22:30.2, and after a first overall finish at Florida Atlantic last weekend, Penelope Sosa ran a 22:28.7 time.

Two more finished off their first regular season with the Knights in strong fashion, as Riley Jaszcak posted a 22:54.6 and Sofia Lantz ran a 24:08.0.

With pre-nationals done, the Black and Gold will return to action at the 2022 American Athletic Conference Championship in Tulsa, Okla. later this month.
