ORLANDO— The UCF Volleyball team (13-1) rallied past Temple (7-10) at The Venue on Friday night. After 33 days since the last home match, the Knights swept the Owls (25-15,25-15,25-16).
"I thought we had a really solid performance all around tonight," said UCF head coach Todd Dagenais. "Our team did a good job at scoring in many ways. All in all when it comes to being home, it was way overdue. It felt great to be back in front of our own fans, on our own court and with the band playing."
The Knights came out ready to go in set one with a 2-0 run. The Owls tied it up at twos, but the Knights took the next point to lead the way for remainder of the set. McKenna Melville came out firing with nine kills.
UCF came out swinging with 14 kills in set two. After Temple tied it up at 1-1, Melville took the lead with a kill. On the defensive side, Chloe Scheer led with four digs.
The Black and Gold shut down the Owls offense with nine errors for a hitting percentage of .031 in the third set. In addition, Abby Hansen recorded three blocks.
Melville led the UCF offense with 18 kills along with seven digs and two blocks.
On the defensive side, Scheer finished the match with nine digs and two aces.
The Knights will be back at The Venue on Sunday, October 16 as they host East Caroline with first serve slated for 12 p.m.
