Men's Soccer Set to Visit UAB

Match Notes

ORLANDO – The UCF men's soccer team is back in action on the road this weekend as they visit UAB on Friday, October 14th for an 8 p.m. kick at PNC Field.

UCF put an end to their three-match losing streak with a 3-1 victory over FIU this past Sunday, meaning the Black and Gold have still never lost four consecutive matches in the Scott Calabrese era. The Knights used two first half goals, including one under 45 seconds to go in the half, to propel themselves to a 3-1 win in Miami. Junior striker Lucca Dourado scored twice in the match which extended his goal streak to seven matches. His streak is just one behind the national leader, LIU's Emil Jaaskelainen, with eight consecutive games with a goal. Dourado was named this week's American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Dourado currently holds the longest goal streak under head coach Scott Calabrese's lead, passing the legendary Cal Jennings who put scored in six straight matches in 2019. The Knight's Juanvi Munoz collected five saves during this match, the fifth time he has made five or more saves throughout the year.

The Knights haven't played the Blazers since Nov. 7, 2012, in the Conference USA Championship quarterfinals, with UAB winning the match 3-1. UCF has gone up against the Blazers a total of ten times, with the Blazers leading the series 8-1-1. Seven of the eight losses against the Blazers have been decided by a single goal.

UAB is 2-7-2 for the season, with an 0-3-2 mark in conference play. The Blazers fell to No. 23 SMU in their last game, losing 1-0. Nathaniel St. Louis leads UAB in scoring, netting four goals and an assist for nine points. Jack Hudson is expected to be in goal and has started 10 of 11 possible matches. He has a .780 save percentage with a 1.30 goals allowed average.
