Men’s Golf Tied for Second After First Day at Carolina Cup

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –
The UCF men's golf team turned in a strong first day of action at the Carolina Cup, as the Knights fired a team score of 285 (-3) to tie for second Sunday afternoon at Carolina Country Club.

Individually, transfer Juan Camilo Vesga had a great day on the course to lead UCF after round one with a score of 67 (-5), which is tied for second. He was one under following the first nine holes but was stellar on the back nine with four birdies to finish four under.

Luis Carrera was also under par for the day with a score of 71 (-1) to rank among the top 20 individuals. He recorded an eagle on hole No. 13, a par five, and ended the day with three birdies.

Markus Braadlie shot an even par 72 in round one, finishing three over on the front nine and three under on the back nine. He tallied three birdies on the back nine.

With four birdies on the day, Egor Eroshenko carded a score of 75 (+3). He was one over on the front nine and two over on the back nine, due in large part to a tough performance on hole No. 11.

Johnny Travale rounded out the lineup for the Knights and shot a score of 76 (+4) with a 39 on the front nine and a 37 on the back nine.

Competing as an individual, Clement Charmasson made his season debut in the Carolina Cup, carding a score of 87.

UCF will tee off starting at 11:36 a.m. Tuesday from Carolina Country Club in round two of the Carolina Cup.
