Dourado Named AAC Offensive Player of the Week

ORLANDO – After scoring a trio of goals over his last two matches, Lucca Dourado of the UCF men's soccer team has been named as the American Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.

Dourado has been on a tear lately, scoring at least one goal in seven consecutive matches, a UCF record under head coach Scott Calabrese. He extended that streak twice this week, once with a goal against SMU on Wednesday and again on Sunday with a pair of goals at FIU. Dourado book-ended the team's goals on Sunday, scoring the opener on a penalty kick opportunity and another in the 80th minute to secure the 3-1 victory.

Sunday was the third time this season that Dourado has scored a pair of goals in a contest, bringing his total this season to 10. He is now just one goal behind the national leader in LIU's Emil Jaaskelainen who also holds the longest active streak for consecutive games with a goal, scoring in eight straight.

Dourado's seven straight matches with a goal passes UCF legend Cal Jennings's streak of six set in 2019. It is the longest such streak under Calabrese's tenure. Dourado has a chance to join Jennings in another category, as he is three goals away from joining the 30 career goals club. Dourado would become just the seventh player in UCF's history to accomplish the feat. Dourado would join Jennings and Matias Pyysalo as two goal scorers who reached the 30 mark while Calabrese has been at the helm of the program.
