BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Knights picked up a big win in the Florida Atlantic Invitational on Friday night at South County Regional Park.
"Tonight was a great night for UCF cross country," Coach Bryan Jackson said. "We raced extremely well from top to bottom. Winning that race shows that our depth is one of our biggest strengths right now. I couldn't be more proud of how far this team has come this year".
Penelope Sosa led the way, winning the 5k race with a time of 17:55.3. Seven other Knights finished in the top 15:
4 – Brenna Mullaney: 18:38.3
5 – Paige Jaszczak: 18:40.4
6 – Riley Jaszczak: 18:41.1
7 – Sofia Lantz: 18:43.7
9 – Rachel Wheatley: 18:51.1
12 – Camryn Williams: 18:58.4
15 – Andrea Ballestero: 19:14.6
With an average time of 18:32, the Knights coasted to a team victory with a score of 23. Nova Southeastern placed second place 36 points behind the Black and Gold.
The remaining four Knights finished in the top 45:
21 – Paige Kelly: 19:28.0
24 – Zoe Pustilnik: 19:40.3
28 – Kendall Hughes: 20:00.2
45 – Caitlin Pinnell: 21:26.9
UCF will look to build on this incredible performance in two weeks when it travels to College Station, Texas, for the Arturo Barrios Invite at the Watts Cross Country Course.
