Three Knights Ranked in ITA Preseason Rankings

Women’s ITA Collegiate Tennis National Rankings - Preseason

ORLANDO – Three members of the UCF women's tennis team were listed in the ITA Division I Preseason Women's Singles and Doubles rankings. Marie Mattel was tabbed No. 90 in singles while Sophia Biolay and Nandini Sharma checked in at No. 56 in doubles.

Last season, Mattel made the NCAA singles championship as the highest-ranked individual in the American Athletic Conference and was just the fourth Knight to ever reach the NCAA singles draw. She posted a 13-5 singles record in dual match play in 2022,

The spring season was Biolay's first at UCF. She finished with a record of 9-5 in singles and 17-5 in doubles while Sharma held a record of 16-5 in singles and 17-4 in doubles

The two were a strong combo on the court, recording the most victories of any tandem on UCF's roster. Biolay and Sharma combined for a record of 16-4 in doubles last dual match season, going 13-4 and earning a ranked win over the course of the campaign. The two finished the season on a five-match winning streak and were 8-2 over their final 10 matches.

Biolay and Sharma were not ranked at any point last season but will begin the 2022-23 fall semester as one of the nation's top-60 doubles teams.
The first fall event of the Knights' 2022-23 slate is the ITF W15 held in Lubbock, Texas from Sep. 19-25. Shortly after, the Knights will have a chance to compete in the Ranked Spotlight, hosted by NC State from Sep. 22-25, and the Bedford Cup, hosted by FGCU, Sep. 23-25.
