ORLANDO – UCF men's soccer freshman goalkeeper Juanvi Muñoz has been named as the American Athletic Conference's Rookie of the Week.
The Valencia, Spain native has been off to a hot start for the Knights, recording five saves in his first collegiate performance against No. 15 Wake Forest.
This past week, Muñoz made seven saves against North Florida in a 2-1 victory. He made three saves in the first half, keeping the match level after the first 45. He made four more to keep his squad in the match after surrendering a breakaway goal early in the second half, giving way for Maël Haise and Mauricio Villalobos Vega who were able to help secure the win.
Coming into the week, Muñoz is seventh in the country in saves per game with an average of six.
