ORLANDO – The UCF cross country team had their first meet of the season Friday night on their home course, hosting The UCF Invite and took second place as a team overall.
 
Freshman Isabella Richardson, had an outstanding performance in her first race as a Knight, leading the team with a time of 18:28.9, placing second individually.
 
Lillian Holtery took 12th place finishing with a time of 19:06.9. Closely behind her was Mackenzie Czurak finishing at 19:15.6 in 16th place. Fellow freshman teammates, Penelope Sosa and Riley Jaszczak, finished together in 17th and 18th place with times of 19:26.9 and 19:32.7.
 
Andrea Ballestero took 23rd in 19:40.8. Paige Jaszczak finished in 19:51.3 taking 25th place with Sofia Lantz in 28th finishing at 19:54.8.
 
Paige Kelly posted a time of 20:36.2. Mariana Rodriguez ran 20:43.1. Rachel Wheatley finished in 20:44.1, with Kendall Hughes crossing 11 seconds later at 20:55.8. Zoe Pustilnik took a time of 21:30.8. Caitlin Pinnell rounded out the UCF competitors finishing with a time of 21:39.8.
 
The Knights will be back in action in two weeks on Friday Sept. 16th.  The Knights will be competing at the North Alabama Showcase, with North Alabama serving as host. The Black and Gold are looking forward to the next race and a new experience.
