ORLANDO— For the second week in a row, McKenna Melville has been named American Athletic Offensive Player of the Week, released by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
"Heading out onto the road for the opening weekend of the conference is quite often considered a trap game," UCF head coach Todd Dagenais. The steadiness of a high IQ and highly motivated senior like McKenna was able to help us maintain our composure through the ups and downs. She's made everybody better around her. We are where we are because of her and how she leads the team into competition. Along with what she does to the team around her to elevate us as an entire group."
The fifth-year graduate student recorded 33 kills with a hitting percentage of .375 and six block assists. On the defensive side, she added in 19 digs.
The Eagan, Minnesota, native recorded 15 kills in the conference opener win over Memphis. She closed out the conference opener weekend with 18 kills against SMU.
