Men’s Golf Tied for First, Play Halted in Second Round at Hartford Hawks Invitational

SOUTH KENT, Conn. – Making its season debut, the UCF men's golf team turned in a stellar first round at the Hartford Hawks Invitational to sit atop the team leaderboard following Monday's action at the Bull's Bridge Golf Club.

The Knights compiled a score of 284 (-4) to tie for first place along with Fairfield. Weather interrupted second-round play and the teams will resume play in the second round on Tuesday before playing the final 18 holes.

Luis Carrera led UCF in the season opener with a score of 69 (-3) to finish the first round tied for fourth.

Juan Camilo Vesga, competing in the Black and Gold for the first time, carded a first-round score of 70 (-2) to tie for eighth place and Johnny Travale is 26th with a score of even par (72).

Egor Eroshenko ended the day +1 with a 3 to tie for 36th and Markus Braadlie rounded out the lineup at +5. Competing as individuals, Chase Haygood was +2 with a score of 74 and Cooper Tate shot a 78.
