No. 30 UCF Women’s Golf Travels to Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate

ORLANDO – Following a strong start to the season at the Cougar Classic last week, the 30th-ranked UCF women's golf team travels to the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Tennessee, Monday, Sept. 19 and Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the Cherokee Country Club.

Tournament play begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday with 36 holes of continuous play and concludes on Tuesday with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start for 18 holes. Fans can follow the action with live scoring on Golf Stat by clicking here.

"I think a quick turnaround this week will be really good for us," said UCF women's golf head coach Emily Marron. "We played really well once we got going at the Cougar Classic and are excited to take that momentum into this week in Tennessee. It's a really competitive field and puts us up against some really strong teams on a great golf course."

Located on the banks of the Tennessee River in West Knoxville, Cherokee Country Club is Knoxville's oldest and most prestigious golf course and country club. The course was originally designed by Donald Ross, considered to be one of America's outstanding golf course architects, and is a par 71, 5,844 yards or 5,930-yard course.

The spacious clubhouse stands above the scenic Tennessee River, with a breathtaking view of the Great Smoky Mountains. From 2004-07 and 2013-22, Cherokee Country Club has hosted this event. Cherokee also has hosted the U.S. Open Qualifier, the Tennessee Men's Invitational Golf Tournament and numerous other state amateur events.

UCF returns to the event for the first time since 2018 when the Knights finished 12th with a three-round score of 906 (311-297-298). UCF has competed in the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate four times prior to this year, with its best finish coming in 2013 and 2014 when the Black and Gold finished fifth.

Last week, the Knights opened the season with an eighth-place finish at the Cougar Classic hosted by College of Charleston at the Yeamans Hall Country Club. The program fired a three-round score of 854 (+2), finishing strong following a slow start.

Senior Tunrada Piddon showed out in the tournament, tying for fourth place with a score of 206 (-7), headlined by 15 birdies.

In addition to Piddon, the Knights' lineup for the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate will feature Pimpisa "Sandwich" Sisustham, Jess Baker, Anna Nordfors and Zoe Allaux.

For the second consecutive week, UCF will battle a strong field as 11 of the 13 other competing teams either advanced to an NCAA Regional or had an individual qualifier.
