Knights Battle to a 2-2 Draw at No. 20 Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – The UCF women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 2-2 draw on the road against No. 20 Texas at Mike Myers Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

"Frustrating to tie again after we had the lead, but I appreciate the energy and the fight from the team," Head Coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. "We'll take a lot of lessons from this game which will make us stronger for league play."

The first 41 minutes of the first half were filled with both teams trading possession back and forth. Then in the 41st minute, Texas opened the scoring on a goal from Lexi Missimo.

Thirty-nine seconds later, Dayana Martin broke free and knotted things at one apiece when she put the ball in the bottom right corner of the net.

The teams would go into the intermission tied.

Caroline DeLisle was incredible yet again. She made five huge saves to preserve the draw. None were bigger than in the 60th minute when she made an amazing save at point-blank range to keep the score at 1-1.

In the 66th minute, UCF took the lead on an own goal from Texas.

That score held until the 86th minute when Texas tied the game on a goal from Trinity Byars.

Four draws in a single season match the UCF program record. The Knights had four draws in 2019 when they finished 11-4-4.

UCF will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 29, when they take on Cincinnati at the UCF Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and the match will air live on ESPN+.
