Women's Soccer Ready to Face No. 20 Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – The UCF women's soccer team hits the road again on Sunday, making the trip to Austin to face Texas at the Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. ET.

The Knights (2-2-3) meet the Longhorns following a scoreless draw against Memphis on Thursday. Both teams mustered up a combined for 10 shots on target, with neither being able to find the final touch.

Following its four-game undefeated run to start the season, UCF dropped hard-fought games to No. 13 Ole Miss and No. 2 North Carolina before Thursday's scoreless draw at Memphis.

The Black and Gold have found the net twice in their last three matches, recording 11 shots on target in 270 minutes of play. The team has been without Kristen Scott, top points leader, who netted three goals in her first four matches of the season.

Against Memphis on Thursday, a late flurry of shots were not rewarded following great saves by the Tigers goalkeeper, similar to last week's matches against two ranked opponents (No. 13 Ole Miss and No. 2 North Carolina), in which the Knights were inches away from a draw in both.

Texas enters Sunday's matchup following four straight wins, defeating opponents by a combined score of 18-3. Following their own loss to North Carolina 2-0, the Longhorns now sit 20th in the nation.

Over its last two, Texas has kept a clean sheet and put 13 in the back of the net. Sophomore Trinity Byars recorded a hat trick in the team's last meeting on Thursday against Texas Southern. She now sits seventh in the nation with seven goals in eight games.

UCF and Texas have met just three times, with the Knights winning two and losing one. Last season at the UCF Soccer Complex, the squad scored four goals and shut out the Longhorns en route to its second win on the season.

Carline DeLisle has been crucial for the Knights this season, making game-changing saves and keeping the Knights close in the final minutes. She recorded a season-high seven saves against Memphis, including a crucial stop in the 75th minute to keep the match scoreless.

With a draw to start conference play, UCF will finish off its non-conference schedule on Sunday. The team will look to leave Austin with a result, as the Knights have not lost more than two non-conference contests since the 2018 season.
