MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The UCF women's soccer team opened American Athletic Conference play with a 0-0 draw against Memphis Thursday night at the Billy J. Murphy Soccer Complex.
"I'm proud of the team for rallying on the road against a very good Memphis squad," UCF Head Coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. "We've had some setbacks with injuries in our starting lineup and we've had players step up which helps the team's confidence grow. We'll keep learning and refocus for a very good Texas team on Sunday."
Caroline DeLisle was huge for the Knights, making a season-high seven saves. No save was bigger than her save in the 75th minute where she dove full extension to her left to keep the game knotted at zero.
DeLisle has been a brick wall in net all season long. Tonight's game marked her third clean sheet of the season and the 21st of her career.
Like the last two games, UCF had a late flurry of shots. Dayana Martin had two shots on goal off the bench in the second half, one nearly giving the Knights the lead in the 81st minute.
The Knights will be back in action against No. 20 Texas on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET.
The match will be streamed on the Longhorn Network.
