HANAHAN, S.C. – UCF women's golfer Tunrada Piddon turned in a stellar first day at the Cougar Classic held at the Yeamans Hall Country Club on Monday, as the senior carded a score of 137 (-5) to tie for fourth place following the first two rounds of play.
As a team, the Knights are tied for 10th with a score of 571 (+3), just five strokes shy of the top-six teams in a stacked field which includes 15 NCAA Regional Teams from last season.
Piddon opened the day with a great first round, firing a three-under-par 68 to tie for fourth. She recorded a team-high six birdies in the opening round with a 35 (-1) on the front nine and a 33 (-2) on the back nine. In the second round, the Bangkok, Thailand, native tallied four additional birdies to finish the day with 10 birdies and logged a score of 69 (-2).
Making her collegiate debut, freshman Pimpisa "Sandwich" Sisutham fired the Knights' second-best score of the day with a two-under-par 140. She was even par (71) in the first round, highlighted by two birdies and two-under (69) in the second round with three birdies.
In her first action in the Black and Gold, transfer Anna Nordfors finished the day with six birdies and a score of 146 (+4) with a 76 in the first round and a 70 in the second round.
Jess Baker and Zoe Allaux both fired scores of 149 (+7). Baker shot a 75 and a 74, while Allaux tallied a 76 and a 73.
UCF will tee off in the final round of the Cougar Classic Tuesday morning at 8:45 a.m. with a shotgun start. The Knights are paired with Illinois and Wisconsin.
