ORLANDO – For the second consecutive year, the UCF women's golf team will open the season at the Cougar Classic hosted by College of Charleston. Play is set for Monday, Sept. 12 and Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Yeamans Hall Country Club.
The Knights, ranked No. 30 in the Golfweek Preseason Rankings, will tee off at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. Monday's action features two rounds of continuous stroke play and the third round will start at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday. The Yeamans Hall Country Club is a par-71, 6,269-yard course ranked as one of the top courses by Golf Digest.
"The Cougar Classic is always a fun opening event for us," said UCF head coach Emily Marron. "The course is always in great shape, and it tests us against the top teams in the country right away. We played well here last year and are building off that momentum here."
UCF will be joined in the Cougar Classic by a stacked field of teams, headlined by No. 11 Florida State, No. 21 Kentucky and No. 23 Ole Miss. In total, 15 of the 18 teams participating in the event advanced to an NCAA Regional last year.
Last year, the Knights finished fifth in the Cougar Classic with a score of 861 (-3). Tunrada Piddon and Camille Banzet led the Black and Gold with scores of 212 (-4).
UCF advanced to its 16th NCAA Regional last season and its eighth in the last 11 seasons. The squad's 2022-23 slate features nine regular-season tournaments in addition to the American Athletic Conference and NCAA Championships.
