Women's Soccer Set to Host Florida in Season Opener

Game Notes
Florida vs. UCF
Thursday, Aug. 28, 6:00 p.m. ET

ORLANDO – The UCF women's soccer team is ready to kick off the 2022 campaign, as the Knights host Florida for a 6 p.m. first kick Thursday at the UCF Soccer Complex.

UCF looks to even the all-time series against the Gators at 6-6-1. Last season, the Knights traveled to Gainesville and earned a 2-0 win for their second consecutive win over Florida.

The Knights return a staggering 24 players from last season's squad, including their top nine goal scorers. They also added three transfers and four freshmen.

One of the returners is the 2021 American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and the 2022 AAC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, Caroline DeLisle. She finished last season with 78 saves and a save percentage of .812. She has 18 total clean sheets in her career and will look to be an anchor for the Knights in net.

The Black and Gold finished the preseason with a 2-1 win over FAU on the road and a 3-0 win against Miami at home.

Last season, Florida posted a 4-12-4 record and a 3-6-1 record in the SEC. The Gators played two exhibitions, beating North Florida 2-0 and Tampa 3-0.

The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
