Baker, Banzet Named WGCA Academic All-Americans

ORLANDO –  A pair of UCF women's golfers were honored as All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association on Tuesday as rising juniors Jess Baker and Camille Banzet received the honor for the second straight year.

Baker picks up the honor after a successful sophomore campaign that saw her play in 10 events (29 rounds) for the Knights in a year where UCF made it to the NCAA Tournament. She finished fourth on the team with a 74.07 scoring average.

It has been an historic year for Baker, who became the first Knight to win the British Amateur in June. The junior from Newcastle, England took home first place at the 119th Women's Amateur Championship after a brilliant two rounds of match play golf in the final, capping off a 6-0 match play run after a solid two rounds of stroke play to open.

Camille Banzet also got it done on the course as well as in the classroom this season as she was named a first team All-AAC selection for the second straight year after posting a 73.83 scoring average, good for third on the team. She participated in all 11 events for UCF and posted four top 20 finishes and was the Knights' top finisher at two events (Cougar Classic and Landfall Tradition).

Criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.5 for the year, and the student-athlete must have played in 50% of the team's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.

The Knights plan on releasing their 2022-23 schedule soon. Stay tuned to the UCF Women's Golf social media channels for the latest information about the upcoming campaign.
